Huangshan (Huangshan / Yellow Mountain) is located in southern Anhui Province, China. To visit Huangshan Scenic Area (main entrances/transfer hubs), most travelers use Tangkou Town as the gateway. Tunxi District (Huangshan City) is a better city base for accommodation and convenience (Old Street, local food, airport/HSR connections).
After arrival, you can travel by car to:
Tangkou Town / scenic transfer hub: about 55 minutes (traffic dependent)
Tunxi (downtown) for an overnight stay: about 30 minutes — great hotels, food, and facilities; in the evening you can enjoy riverside views and visit Tunxi Old Street
Xidi & Hongcun Villages: about 1 hour 10 minutes
Shexian Huizhou Ancient City: about 40 minutes
Shanghai → Huangshan North: typically 2.5–5 hours (varies by train)
Hangzhou → Huangshan North: typically 1.5–2.5 hours
Beijing → Huangshan North: typically 5–7.5 hours
Guangzhou → Huangshan North: typically 5–7 hours
Shenzhen → Huangshan North: typically 7.5–8.5 hours
Nanchang (Jiangxi) → Huangshan North: typically 1.5–2.5 hours
Xi’an → Huangshan North: typically 7–8 hours (some trains may require a transfer, e.g., via Hefei South—please check real-time schedules)
Tip: Train schedules and travel times can change. Please check the latest information on the official China Railway platform 12306.
Flying is a good option for travelers coming from farther cities. TXN is a small airport and routes can be seasonal. After landing, transfer by car to:
Tunxi city center: about 20 minutes
Tangkou Town / scenic transfer hub: usually about 50–70 minutes (traffic dependent)
For independent travelers, the most convenient option is usually:
Huangshan North Station / TXN Airport → (private transfer) → Tangkou hotel or scenic transfer hub → scenic shuttle bus → cable car / hiking.
We can help with private transfers, luggage assistance, and route/timing suggestions—especially useful during peak season to reduce queues and avoid backtracking.
